Arthur is a 32 y/o Belgian draft gelding. He was cast aside when no longer useful or needed as a work horse and went thru several auctions, purchased by dealers and kill buyers, only to be deliberately starved while waiting to go to kill auction. He arrived to us in a very emaciated state, so much so, all he could do was lay down, uninterested in food or his surroundings, and was absolutely exhausted with no reserve left. After two days he became interested in food and has settled in well. His feet have been trimmed, he was seen by a veterinarian, and has been de-wormed. Arthur saw the dentist--he has 2 teeth missing, and had many sharp points filed down. He does have ringbone (arthritis in the lower front legs) and requires occasional medication to keep him comfortable. He is looking much better after months of loving care!
Sadly Arthur passed away in October 2016. He is greatly missed!
