Our Mission
Ferrell Hollow Farm Senior Horse & Cat Sanctuary is a 501c3 Non Profit Organization, which allows for tax exempt donations. Our mission is to advocate and care for special needs senior horses and senior cats in need of a sanctuary setting, that are not afforded adequate care and would be considered at risk of neglect or abuse, if left in their current situation.
Mary
Mary is a 37 y/o Standardbred mare who came to Ferrell Hollow Farm in September of 2009, with pal Francis. She has an illegible lip tatoo, so we have not been able to trace her in the STB registry. She most likely had an early career on the trotter track, then transitioned to a life as a carriage horse. Mary worked the streets of NYC, but it is unknown for how many years. She was retired before she turned 20.
Mary has quite a number of arthritic joints which have become more problematic for her, however the most noteable condition that she has is hoof canker, which requires frequent treatment. It continues to be a long battle but she is a tough girl!
*Sadly Mary passed away March 24, 2024 at the age of 37, she will be greatly missed by all!
