Our Mission
Ferrell Hollow Farm Senior Horse & Cat Sanctuary is a 501c3 Non Profit Organization, which allows for tax exempt donations. Our mission is to advocate and care for special needs senior horses and senior cats in need of a sanctuary setting, that are not afforded adequate care and would be considered at risk of neglect or abuse, if left in their current situation.
Ellie
*Sadly Ellie passed away August 9th, 2018 due to complications from an auto immune disorder
Ellie is a 28 year old Shire draft mare who stands 17.3 hands and weighs approximately 1,700 lbs. She has been a broodmare, and was rescued from a kill pen in poor shape. She was given love, care and companionship, but never bonded with any of her herd-mates. We brought her in to be a companion for Siegfried, after he had lost his beloved mare.
Ellie is a sweet soul, and quickly formed an attachment to Siegfried! She does have some dental issues that come with age, and requires soaked meals. She has issues with her legs, and will stomp and bite them, so the feathers have been cut back in attempts to better manage them.
She also has a mass inside her left shoulder that will periodically open and drain.
